J. Wilbur Adams VFW Post 3404 was consolidated with VFW Post 963 in January 2014 with the senior charter date of May 27, 1929. During the last 90 years Post 3404 was an 'All State Post' 8 times, receiving this recognition twice during the 1996-1998 tenure of one Post Commander and again in 2013 and 2014 during the tenure of another Post Commander. Currently, there are 189 VFW Posts in Missouri and Post 3404 is ranked #1 in Division 14.
The objects of the Veterans of Foreign Wars are fraternal, patriotic, historical and educational; to preserve and strengthen comradeship among its members; to assist worthy comrades; to perpetuate the memory and history of our dead, and to assist their widows and orphans; to maintain true allegiance to the Government of the United States of America, and fidelity to its Constitution and laws: to foster true patriotism, to maintain and extend the institutions of American freedom; and to preserve and defend the United States from all her enemies, whomsoever.
Post 3404 now has approximately 351 members with 83 percent being Life Members. The Auxiliary has 138 members and is a very active group. Their Buddy Poppy Display won FIRST PLACE at the State Convention (another 1st for 3404) in June of 2013, 2014 and 2019. They received several other awards as well.
This is no ordinary VFW. This is a group of Devoted Freedom Loving Veterans that have served our country proudly and continue to support and comfort all our Veterans. YOU should be PROUD to be a MEMBER!
VFW Post 3404 welcomes new VFW Post members every month. Our post is active and has veterans from WWII to Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Global War on Terror. There are even members currently serving on active duty and the reserves.
U. S. Congressman Billy Long prepared and presented a speech on the floor of the U. S. House of Congress about Post 3404 receiving the All American Award. His speech was printed in the CONGRESSIONAL RECORD, Vol. 159, September 17, 2014, Nos. 121-122.
